Dr. Rashed Mohamed Karkain is an esteemed Emirati innovator, researcher, and author of the acclaimed book “Sustainable Development Leaders.” With over 25 years of distinguished experience, Dr. Karkain has made significant contributions across various domains, including sustainable development, environmental project management, green economy, sustainable energy, carbon capture and reusability, green hydrogen, environmental studies and planning, and sustainable management of municipal and hazardous wastes. His expertise also encompasses occupational health and safety, integrated and sustainable wastewater treatment, and formulating research, studies, policies, and technical guidelines.
Dr. Karkain’s excellence has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Dubai Government Excellence Award, where he secured First Place for Technical Project in 2010 and Second Place for Technical Outstanding Employee in 2016. Additionally, he received an Innovation Award from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation in 2020.
A respected academic, Dr. Karkain has lectured at the Canadian University in Dubai, Zayed University in Dubai, and Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University. He is also an Advisory Board Member at the Canadian University in Dubai. His contributions to intellectual property are substantial, with fourteen registered properties at the UAE’s Ministry of Economy. Dr. Karkain has published numerous papers, led workshops, and delivered speeches. He has also served as a juror for prestigious awards, including The Stevie Awards, Gulf Sustainability Awards, Emirates Environmental Group, Middle East Waste and Recycling Awards, and the Think Science Competition.
